JICT is The Most Safe and Secure Terminal in Indonesia

JICT assures the public that our container terminal is safe and secure, with no unauthorised access being permitted.  This statement is supported by the US Coast Guard Port Security Advisory dated 6 March 2008 which names JICT as one of the best of Indonesia’s 16 ports in implementing effective security measures and fully compliant with the International Standard of Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.  In addition, the US Embassy has insisted that US Navy ships visiting Indonesia should dock at JICT because of its high levels of security.

Since 1st November 2006, JICT, as the largest container terminal in Indonesia, has enforced a 100% Sterile Terminal policy. This initiative was undertaken to fulfill the International Standard of Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code and to improve security around JICT.

All persons, vehicles and goods entering or leaving JICT require a pass issued subject to thorough checking and identification.  This regulation is applied without exception, including for staff, customers, TKBM labour, transport crew, and relevant Government personnel.

JICT uses an online electronic data system for container haulage trucks entering and leaving its Terminals. Special IDs in the form of stickers with unique numbering are distributed to the trucks. This assists the checking of all vehicles and improves the service, speed, and data accuracy for trucks entering the yard. The monitoring system will soon be reinforced by the implementation of magnetic ID cards.

To ensure sterile port facilities, security regulations are enforced within the terminals through patrols, additional guards in high risk areas, as well as by thorough inspection of documentary completeness and the physical condition of containers, including seals at the Gate. JICT employs 349 security personnel to ensure a 100% sterile terminal is achieved.

JICT has also installed high quality equipment and infrastructure to improve JICT’s security systems, such as the construction of the restricted area steel main entrance gate, including barbed wire surround, and installation of close circuit TV cameras.***
